Boycott love arranged by Lord Shiva

Long queue of unmarried ,single women in front of Lord Shiva’s temple in the auspicious saawan month(as Hindus say).In North India especially in small towns, villages, b-grade metros it is a conviction that if you impress lord Shiva this season ,you will get the perfect partner(conviction so malign).
Hindi TV news channels that otherwise just exist to give cheap entertainment, come to newer low in this season. Special astrology shows are manufactured to tell the ways how to impress lord Shiva. The so called gyan gurus create fear that if a woman remains unmarried what terrible situation it may create for her, family and society. They tell them to keep 16 Monday fast solah somwar and offer Shiva with milk, yoghurt, honey, bel patra etc. etc.
I feel in order to get the partner for life all one needs is consent of two individuals who are ready to share roof, bodies, love and life. But welcome to the great nation ,here first you need to impress lord Shiva with so much endurance, then too you have to marry a man selected by string of relatives and match makers. They openly search for a guy with whom their daughter can have legal sex with.(because pre marital sex with consent is even sin, and post marriage ,even marital rape is right ).even so much money is wasted to impress Shiva one still has to bribe in laws in name of shit called dowry.
In a country where millions of girls die in foetus, those who survive this blunt fail even to get their basic right of education, sanitation and nutrition, how far is fasting to get perfect husband is justified? Instead if God exist, why lord Shiva is not impressed to get superb career and dignified life?
In this country whenever it comes to worshiping, I have noticed female is worshipped in idols whereas man is worshiped in real blood and flesh. For instance durga, kali, Sita they all are symbols, on contrary male figure is worshipped as husband, son, father and brother.
All the fast and pujas are performed by women for men. From  karva chauth to chatt to sakat. Mothers do it for sons, sisters do it for brothers, and wives do it for husbands.
Woman despite pleasing men in various forms and stages, in her life she lives in the state of depravity, depression, and despair.
She doesn’t have existence beyond her stereotypes .she is never free. Throughout her life she has to be daughter, sister, wife/girlfriend or mother of someone. That’s why she never achieves anything beyond care and household chores.
Blame it on our conditioning, that says woman has to be lead and protected by men throughout her life.
In super hit comedy show –comedy nights with kapil this conditioning finds root. Show laughs and ridicules the unmarried, single bua. Show’s script is so regressive –it portrays single, unmarried woman as desperate woman who craves for men. As if until woman’s body is not touched or caressed by man, she won’t get nirvana. Why nobody laughs at mama ,chacha in the family who remain unmarried? Why nobody asks kuch kami hai kya to unmarried men? Why marriage is mandatory for woman only?
Marriage can happen ,even when you don’t impress lord shiva. If after impressing Shiva with so much toil ,you have to marry man chosen by parents and family, then better let them alone toil.
Grow up .it’s time to boycott love arranged by lord Shiva.

Extraordinary caregivers

Photo: Chris Hinn "Several years into my practice as a physician at my own private clinic, my father was diagnosed with a chronic illness. I could not afford the treatment or the medicines. I had a hard time coping up with the rising cost. So, hoping that government subsidies will be able to help my situation, I applied to join the public health sector. The whole ordeal really made me reflect my role as a doctor, and the patients I should really be serving,” recalled Dr Rajesh Bhadoria.   Dr Rajesh is the officer in charge at the District Drug Warehouse (DDW) in Badi, Udaipur. He oversees the flag bearer DDW branch of Rajasthan’s free medicine scheme in the region. For the last five years, he and his team have been making sure that benefits of the free medicine scheme reach the people of Udaipur fully. The DDW is located about fifteen kilometers away from the main city of Udaipur, laced with vast and fresh water lakes of Fateh Sagar and Pichola along the way. ...

Nightingale got no prize at the poultry show

Einstien,Twain,Edison were born out of class, before the text proceeds , I would like to say here 'class' doesn’t mean the structure with four walls, one door, two windows, one teacher, books and the pack of chained students. Here class is the niche of brilliance, freedom, discovery, imagination and invention. I wish to have education system that forges humans with brain and not machines with grades. As a student .I always wondered, how one can go about saying two plus two equals to four? Without anyone questioning why? Just because our course book said so. Why in history "dates and events” were asked? When no one taught us the resemblance to the days which we live in. Why for learning anything new, we need old books instead of new ideas? Why make notes in class, when the brain is blank and ink in copy left no hammer on thinking? Why teachers ask us to learn by heart, while it is the mind that is required to do so.? Even Winston Churchill had a dig at his tea...

The hostel question.

‘Humme samman nahi samanata chahiye This phrase echoed in my head, on my way to my hostel, after attending the screening of ‘In her words’ a film by Annie Zaidi on women writing in India and discussion ‘being woman writing woman’. I was accompanied by one of my juniors whose hostel deadline was 9:00 pm. It was around 9:30 pm. No sooner had we got off from the auto than she rushed to her hostel. It’s been a month since Jamia Millia Islamia has been in news for its recent girls’ hostel diktaks. Letter that lead to this, said girls would no longer have their late nights, which girls were permitted before –though the number was laughingly two. A few of my friend stay in Jamia Hostel and seeing them I know how difficult it is to live there. They give you good food, washing machine and security but freedom. What pushed me to type this was my own tryst with university hostel. I am not a resident of jamia Hostel and I am extremely glad about the fact. But this feeling was not the s...
