The sun went down, inhuman sea of humanity lands to
party. Frustrated lifestyle, frustrated life meets frustrated music. Beer,
party and women this vicious cycle never ends.
Fagged minds and boozed souls rock the floor, forgetting
the lyrics and the culture it is propagating.
So when
“tujh jaisi toh
pat jaati hai, phir dughatna ghat jati hai
Mai
hoon shikari kudiye
Mujhko
naa pehchane tu kya tere
Ghar
akhbar nahi aata.”
People celebrate the culture of gender terrorism and they
need tougher laws to prevent gender abuse.
Singh and his lyrics reflect platitudinous culture of
patriarchal setup..The culture that would have erased XX chromosome from the humanity,
had it not been for her physical landmarks-the breasts, the buttocks and the
vagina.
Honey Singh has created such an ecosystem that whenever
there’s party. Woman by default becomes the victim of violence. Party, beer, and
woman become same, all three meant for consumption, entertainment and disposal.
He represents the popular culture of hyper violent
masculinity that has crept in our society. Where a boy becomes a man, only when
he hoists flags of masculinity on women's physical, mental and social well being
.sound musical beat cannot justify unsound lyrical structure. Society that is
fast alienating itself from morals, detaching itself from ground realities, it’s
no surprise Singh is sensation anyone who generates adrenaline is hero, be it
Honey Singh makers of grand masti and Asharam.
Sex sells but should not there be a limit to it??Censor
board passed grand masti without objecting its content. Its members got enraged
when Chairperson Leela Samson commented, her 90 % of colleagues are uneducated
(later she had to withdraw her words.).
Music lessons need to be re taught in the country. On
one hand Zubin Mehta’s diplomatic peace keeping music failed to calm down the
fire in the Jammu and kashmir.and on other hand Singh’s violent music is
leaving disastrous impact.
This kind of music gives more reasons to prove that
women are just passive receiver to men’s sexual desire.
Rapping the rape song
Harassing the heels
Dope shope is what women are addicted to
Women after using men...Break up
“The break up party” song is a sheer reflection that if a
woman instead of man moves out of relationship, she is vamp.
Like any other rap star who narrates misogyny, Singh too
depicts women in following senses
Women and sex
Women and violence
Women as trouble for men
Women less than
Women as mean
His lyrics are mirror to the young men of all the
classes who see woman as status enhancing commodities. In times when women are
outdoing men in all the walks of life .her body –her bodily integrity is the
only vulnerable terrain on which male rage is venting itself.
The violence factor is high in his songs .the violence
is the way one treats woman with, violence is the only language a woman
understands .her man possess all the rights to correct her by violent means(domestic
violence is the crude example),when he thinks she has gone astray .
In his hit song ****, the rape valorizing rap star
,voices his yearning to kick a woman after raping her to drive out the bhoot of her ego from her head. It shows
the mentality where sexually independent woman is the biggest enemy of men.
Recent debate to punish juvenile rapist triggered many
points but it clearly misses one important. If one sits and looks how that
juvenile became the merciless rapist and the murderer, one would find culture
that likes of Singh create act as catalyst in molding their thoughts.
When young and prospect less men from slum, streets and
society as whole hear such lyrical violence, they feel connected and alienated
at the same time
Connected because on TV and other media women are commodities,
the same way they are treat on streets and homes. Alienated because they feel
deprived of the third degree addiction to sex, women and drugs of the pub life.
We create hypersexualised society for such vulnerable kids. When they see a
woman who is independent in all forms and is better off than them, she becomes
their enemy and meets the fate of Nirbhaya.
It’s time to think that one, who dances on violence outside,
comes home and demolishes womanhood.
When the music gets furious
And it gets loud
Slow down and pause
Listen to the lyrics
And whom it is about
If it is the mentality that is so sick
It’s time to stop the music.
